What do you love most about being an agency owner? What did you love most about modeling? 

I Love being an agency owner because I love watching a model’s goals come into fruition. Teaching them about the industry and taking away the smoke and mirrors is so exciting. It’s amazing to help them come into their own and become entrepreneurs of their own brand!

As a Model, I loved to travel and still do. I believe experience is the most important and valued form of education. I didn’t know who I was until I experienced other cultures. It helps gain a grasp on my day to day world and develop an understanding and deep respect for others.

Before you were an agency owner, what did you do for work?  

I have always been in the industry in some capacity so my job titles go from Model, Actress, Assistant Choreographer to Lead Choreographer, Pageant titleholder , Pageant Coach to Mother Agent and Agency Owner to my favorite job title: Mom!

What will you be speaking about at SNAP 2019? 

I will be speaking about the modeling industry and what you need to know to be successful working with an agency, which is more like a partnership. As the dates come closer the staff takes a closer look at who is coming and the education that is best for those who are attending, so I like make my classes is really specific to the attendees. I am also excited to hear the other speakers because I myself always feel I am always learning from their expertise.

What’s one common mistake new models make when starting their career? What advice can you give them to rectify this? 

You need to know what the industry is about and the business side of how things work. New models often think doing one photoshoot will make them a model but a career as a model is truly about starting your own business and brand. If you don’t know how the business works and what clients are looking for than it’s easy to tell you apart form a professional model. There are times when you only have one shot to make an impression to a client or an agency so you want to make sure you get it right.

What was the best thing you ever did for your business?

Staying true to the reason I wanted to start the agency: to educate, inspire and to be a part of the journey and networking with amazing and inspiring people. Every offer or opportunity or model we take on is like accepting someone new into your family. I never want money to be the reason I want to do something. Money will come if you have the right heart and mind and have others’ success and happiness in the forefront of our minds.

How is the modeling and fashion industry different now than it was even 5 years ago?

I would say the biggest difference is what social media is doing for our industry. There are some that don’t like it but it really has become an amazing tool for models to brand themselves instead of the industry branding them as a type of model. I love it; your voice is heard and your following becomes a selling tool to work with brands and agencies.

What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you in the beginning of your career?

Success does not usually happen overnight. You have to want it because you love it not because you want to make money. Money will come and go but if you are happy doing what you love than you are already successful. “Success and Wealth are only a matter of Perception.”

What is different about SNAP than other conferences/events you’ve been to?

SNAP is about professionals getting together with people that aspire to do what they love for a living. It’s exactly what the title stands for: “Social Media”, “Networking”, “Asset Development”, and “Portfolio Build Up”.  What also I love so much about SNAP that it’s a close group; even if you’re just meeting us for the first time we’re inclusive and motivating from the beginning.

You taught at SNAP 2018; what was your favorite part of the event? 

Watching our attendees make memories with their new friends and family. Watching the other speakers teach. I loved teaching and the questions and the manuals that were created so that they had the resources to take home. Also putting on a runway show for the entire resort and watching the participants rock that runway was so much fun!

What are you most excited to do in Bali?

Oh that is a long list…but besides from my excitement for the classes and events and photoshoots, I would say spending some quality time with my husband. Oh and I’m also excited to find a place to play with baby elephants! I LOVE Elephants!
